PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND FEATURES
Karelian Plaited Ribbon Motif plywood earrings are based on chain holders that were part of the impressive set of jewelry adorning the festive costumes of Eastern Finnish and Karelian women nearly a thousand years ago. Designed by Germund Paaer (1881–1950), the motif embellished with three heart-shaped charms was among the very first Kalevala designs introduced in 1937. Over the decades there have been numerous variations to the theme. After years of absence the Karelian Plaited Ribbon Motif now returns to the Kalevala product range as plywood earrings glowing in vibrant summery colors. The earrings are available only in our webshop and Kalevala stores in Helsinki.
The plywood earrings are a limited edition campaign product. The earrings are made of Finnish plywood with connecting parts in bronze and hooks in gold-plated silver. Dyed on both sides, the reverse side unpatterned. As the plywood earrings are a special limited edition product, Kalevala Koru does not offer any repair service. When handled with care, the earrings will bring you joy for a long time. Please avoid exposing the earrings to moisture: do not swim or bathe while wearing them or store them in a humid place. Cosmetics such as perfume and hairspray will damage both the plywood and metal parts. Plywood is a relatively brittle material and does not tolerate bending.
