Martin Bergström – Poetic and bold
Martin Bergström is a multidisciplinary artist and designer whose organic visual language has found expression across a wide range of materials and creative fields. From textiles to glass and metal, his work is united by recurring patterns and a deep connection to the natural world.
Bergström’s design journey begins with hand-drawn sketches—fluid, organic forms inspired by the rich diversity of nature. Under his creative vision, these natural elements are transformed into abstract shapes that define his distinctive style.

The Itu collection, designed by Martin Bergström, will be launched at Kalevala's Copenhagen Fashion Week event on August 6, 2025.

Inspiration lies in the seed—growing into new life
The Itu collection finds inspiration in new life sprouting from a seed—shoots pushing through the soft soil of forests or small cracks in city asphalt. The pearl in the design reflects the moon glowing softly in the sky, quietly influencing the natural rhythms of life.
“What fascinates me most is witnessing how these organic themes are brought to life as jewelry by the skilled hands of Kalevala’s goldsmiths. The spirit of Finnish nature, lunar cycles, and echoes of history continue to inspire me endlessly.
The collection offers a rich variety of pieces—each a unique interpretation, yet all rooted in the same core theme. I want the jewelry to come alive when worn—to be loved, to be cherished.”

Itu collection grows with you
The Itu collection includes a bold statement necklace, sculptural earrings, and a range of smaller elements and charms designed to be mixed, matched, and customized. Hoops and pendants can be personalized with a seed, a pearl, or a delicately engraved plate, allowing each piece to reflect the wearer’s own story.
Crafted at Kalevala’s own factory in Helsinki, Itu jewelry is made from recycled silver and gold-plated silver. The glass pearls, like every item in the collection, are handcrafted in Helsinki.
